As the days turn to brighter weather, we can sense signs of spring approaching.
Among the various events such as graduation, enrollment, joining a company, and transfers, Third also has special events.
Every year on March 10th, Third Day, a leather memorial service is held at Abuto Kannon Temple in Numakuma-cho, Fukuyama City.
This year, all of our staff went to offer prayers to express their gratitude.
A Rinzai sect temple located on Cape Afuto.
The Kannon Hall, built by Mori Terumoto between 1570 and 1573, is designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan.

The scraps of leather used throughout the year will be rolled up into a ball, and once the school bag has been remade it will be carved into the shape of a cherry blossom and a sutra will be read aloud.
As I listen to the head priest's sutra, a feeling of gratitude for the life of the leather that we use every day naturally wells up in my mind.
This is one of the essential events throughout the year for Third Staff.
This year marks the 9th year.
We were given matcha tea and rakugan rice crackers after the memorial service.
Sitting in seiza, which is unfamiliar to me, loosens up my numb legs, and relaxes my mind as I listen to the head priest's tale.
School bag memorial service
At Third, we also hold memorial services for school bags that have been remade.
School bag remake - a school bag that has been used for six years is transformed into a new item that can be used in everyday life.
We started in 2011 and have remade over 2,000 school bags.
After remaking the backpack, we will either return it or donate it, according to the customer's wishes.
Wallet Memorial Service

In addition to leather and school bag memorial services, we will now also be offering wallet memorial services.
A wallet that I've loved and used for many years.
"I bought a new wallet, but I feel bad about throwing it away."
Because it is something that you have used carefully, we understand your desire to treat it with care until the very end.

Spring is the season when you want to refresh your look.
If you are considering replacing your wallet, please also consider wallet memorialization.
March 21st: One Grain, One Million Times Day

March 21st in 2023 is an auspicious day as it coincides with "Ichiri Manbai Day," "Tensha Day," and "Tora Day."
Originally, wallets bought in the spring were called spring wallets and were said to be lucky, based on the wordplay that goes "a wallet filled with money."
If you are going to buy a new wallet, you should do it during an auspicious season, and on an auspicious day in particular.
It may take some time to think about it, but I'm sure you'll find it reinvigorating.
